When you think about painting, do you think about something like this? the TV sounds, while the gaze travels away from the screen onto the fake copy of Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. “Why does art hate me?” continues the video with a replica of Homer Simpson from the series The Simpsons. In it, Homer is portrayed as an incarnation of the common man, the average citizen, hence his understanding or misunderstanding he has with and of contemporary art, a replica that continues with “Why does art hate me … I never did anything to art”. The piece is composed of a video collage of short cuts from famous foreign cartoon movies that reach us through cable television. In them, they discuss the meaning of art in one way or another while at the same time transmitting and strengthening popular opinions and understandings about modern and post-modern art. Often mockingly, less often-enthusiastically, mоre often they just express total confusion about it all. The video is played on a TV set within an installation that covers the comfort of a living room, free to use by the audience. The audience becomes part of the work, observing firsthand, what they would do at home in their living room in front of the TV-a passive reception of ready-made information. In this way, affecting with delayed (and) successful connection and role of art with the problems of contemporary society. “Burn you a relic of convention!”
