The word plastic derives from the Greek πλαστικός (plastikos) meaning ability to be formed or molded by πλαστός (plastos) meaning shaped. Plastic as an adjective is the general property of all materials that are able to irreversibly deform without breaking, while the noun plastic typically refers to the specific polymers with the same properties. Most of the works are made out of recycled materials. Among other things, they used: plastic, plastic film and plastic items, unused nail polish, old, found or recycled paper, tracing paper and collage cutouts removed from Burda (A Yugoslavian woman’s fashion magazine), color made from inorganic pigments, epoxy resin, strands of synthetic wig, etc.
Plastics have virtually no shelf life (it is ≈ eternal), it shapes the theme of the concept materially and technically, and represents plastic thoughts (which, consequently, by definition of what plastic is, become permanent and eternal) showing how a segment sets, is concerned, experienced and is treated on the basis of this plastic thinking. With a wide range of such socially shaped beliefs and concepts, Plastic distinguishes the problem of the relationship: woman-society and suggests understanding the difference between womanhood and femininity in it. Is it to be female to be pink? Me for myself or me against myself, the concept leads to an open debate on the problem of women’s identity and role (eg. re-actualization of damsel in distress, the helpless princess that needs to be rescued by the Prince) and patriarchal PLASTIC values that shape and are being repromoted with no pardon, used as a template by the artist, by re-using old works and/or recycled materials, also for commenting on the objectification and discrimination, violence and sexism, the author encourages removing established molds and stencils of thinking and acting and reshaping the eternal plastic mold.
