About the color choice: Primarily, blue is the most common color in pens, dating back to about the 5th century when standard ink used in Europe was iron gall ink that had bluish color. Additionally, a study by a group of researchers led by Jonathan Winawer on the Russian blues reveals the effects of language on color discrimination. Unlike the English language, Russian makes a distinction between light blue (“goluboy”) and dark blue (“siniy”). Meaning, in a broader sense outside the experiment, language has the power to influence perceptions.
